1.9 Teaching Adults

BSL - Video English - Transcript

Adults are in two groups those who learn as an interest in communication and those who have qualification or career goals. They may require a high level of specific vocabulary.

These groups are able to learn grammatical theory as well as acquire complex vocabulary and structures. Authentic language is important to these learners.

Multi media approaches are appropriate to adult learners.

Although these students will have a mature approach to learning they will still need individual attention as well as praise and encouragement to work. They will benefit from working in pairs or groups.

Generally they will expect to realise their aims and achieve their goals.
