6.1 Example Morpheme: SISTER

BSL - Video English - Transcript

For example, the parts of the English word "sister" - "s" "i" "s" "t" "e" and "r" - are all meaningless but when we put them together they make the meaningful morpheme "sister".

In BSL, the handshape, location, movement and orientation constituents of SISTER are each meaningless, but when they are all put together they create a unit of meaning.
