2.3 Why is Sign Linguistics important?

		Sign linguistics is important because Deaf people were not taught about their language when they were at school. It is especially useful for language tutors and Deaf professionals. Most fluent and skilled language users have no idea how their language is structured - this is true for BSL or English users. Linguistics can help us understand our own language better and it can help us understand a second language better.
