2.2 What is Sign Linguistics?

BSL - Video English - Transcript

General sign linguistics tries to describe the characteristics of sign languages in general. Descriptive sign linguistics, in our case, is simply a way of describing BSL in a formal way. Because many people are interested in sign linguistics because they want to teach BSL or learn it, we will present a simple linguistic description of the structure and function of sign languages (especially BSL) and comparing them with other spoken languages (such as English).
